Davis County Approves SLFRF Subaward for Layton Teen Success Center

Davis County has approved the State and Local Fiscal Recovery Funds (SLFRF) Subaward Agreement with Friends of Switchpoint for the establishment of the Layton Teen Success Center. This initiative is a significant step forward in providing much-needed resources and support to teens in the community, aiming to empower them with the tools and guidance necessary for a successful future.

The Layton Teen Success Center will offer a range of services, including academic support, career counseling, and mental health resources, all designed to help teens navigate the challenges they face. The partnership with Friends of Switchpoint, a well-respected nonprofit organization, ensures that the center will have the expertise and support needed to make a lasting impact.

Public Hearing on Community Development Block Grant Plan

In other developments, the Davis County Commission held a public hearing on the draft of the county’s 2024-2028 Five-Year Consolidated Plan for the Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) program. The plan outlines the county’s strategy for utilizing federal funds to address community development needs, including affordable housing, economic development, and public services.

Key Approvals in Legal Services and Tech Maintenance

The Commission also ratified an amendment to the agreement for legal services for indigent persons appearing in Davis County, ensuring continued legal representation for those who cannot afford it. Additionally, the Information Systems department received approval for a three-year contract with Tech Connect for preventative maintenance on Uninterruptible Power Supplies (UPS), ensuring the reliability of critical infrastructure.

Sheriff’s Office and Board of Equalization Updates

The Sheriff’s Office gained approval for the list of 24/7 SCRAM (Continuous Transdermal Alcohol Monitoring Program) agreements for July 2024, a program essential for monitoring alcohol-related offenses. Meanwhile, the Board of Equalization reviewed the Property Tax Register for August 13, 2024.

Consent Items and Commissioner Update

The Commission also approved the minutes from work sessions, regular commission meetings, and the Board of Canvass meeting, ensuring transparency and accurate record-keeping. Commissioner Kamalu was absent from the meeting as she was attending a conference.
