The Davis County Commission met Tuesday, January 6, 2026, for its regularly scheduled meeting at the Davis County Administration Building in Farmington.

The meeting opened with the Pledge of Allegiance, led by Susan Lee. During public comment, County Assessor Andy Hansen thanked residents and staff for participating in the Davis County Teen Centers Drive, which raised approximately $1,200 in gift cards along with additional donated goods.

Commissioners recognized numerous Davis County employees for milestone service anniversaries ranging from five to 25 years across departments including Animal Care, Health, Human Resources, the Library system, Golf Courses, and Environmental Health.

The Commission approved multiple sets of meeting minutes from December 2025. Commissioner Bob Stevenson was excused from the meeting for county business.

Among business items, the Commission tabled a proposed agreement for an Animal Care fundraising feasibility study to allow for additional discussion. Commissioners approved funding agreements related to Code Blue winter overflow services, noting strong community volunteer support during recent cold-weather events.

Additional actions included approving a construction management agreement for the Bountiful Branch Library renovation, purchasing and marketing agreements for County golf courses, amendments to public health funding contracts, updates to a Department of Corrections agreement, and several consent items involving senior services, recycling, community events, and sponsorships.

The Commission recessed briefly to convene as the Board of Equalization, where the property tax register was approved, before reconvening the regular meeting.

In closing remarks, Commission Chair John Crofts reflected on his first year in office and emphasized transparency, public engagement through town halls, and the importance of local journalism. Commissioner Lorene Kamalu spoke about teamwork and employee appreciation, while County Clerk Brian McKenzie noted the opening of the candidate filing period and thanked staff for work related to data privacy compliance.

The meeting adjourned at 10:56 a.m.
