Davis County Commission Recognizes Public Service, Approves Key Agreements in Latest Meeting
Farmington, UT – The Davis County Commission convened on February 18, 2025, addressing a range of county business, including public recognitions, community investments, and policy decisions. The meeting, held at the Davis County Administration Building, was available for public attendance and streamed online.
Recognitions & Informational Updates
The meeting began with a special recognition for Jon Thornley, Davis County Fleet Manager, who received the Outstanding Public Fleet Management Professional of the Year Award from the Utah Chapter of the American Public Works Association. Commissioner Bob Stevenson praised Thornley’s contributions, highlighting his role in improving county fleet operations.
Additionally, the Commission acknowledged Woods Cross City’s Notice of Intent to reauthorize the Recreation, Arts, and Parks (RAP) Tax in the upcoming 2025 election.
Key Business Approvals
The Commission approved several agreements aimed at improving county services, public safety, and infrastructure:
- Community & Economic Development: The Commission approved an amendment to the Community Development Block Grant in partnership with Habitat for Humanity, helping support affordable housing efforts.
- Public Transit & Recreation: An athletic field sponsorship agreement was approved with ISL Agency/FC Barcelona Summer Camps.
- Public Safety & Law Enforcement: The Davis County Sheriff’s Office secured an agreement with the Davis School District for an internship and safety program. Additionally, a Memorandum of Agreement with the Naval Surface Warfare Center was ratified for the Electro-Optics Loan Program to enhance law enforcement resources.
- Health & Environmental Initiatives: The Utah Department of Environmental Quality allocated $5,000 for radon awareness initiatives in Davis County.
- Facilities & Infrastructure: The Commission approved new garage door installations at Davis Park Golf Course and additional excavation services for fencing and light post installations.
