Davis County Board of Canvass Certifies Election Results, Solidifying Republican Wins and Approving Key Grants and Agreements

The Davis County Board of Canvassers officially certified the results of the November 2024 General Election in a public meeting this week, finalizing voter decisions with full transparency. The certification, the culmination of a thorough review process, underscored the county’s commitment to fair elections.
With the votes certified, all Republican candidates emerged victorious, securing their positions with commanding margins. These decisive wins reflect the strong Republican support across the county and solidify the party’s leadership in Davis County government.
Beyond election certification, the meeting included the approval of several important grant applications and agreements. Among the highlights were:
- Approval of a Grant Application for State and Local Fiscal Recovery Funds (SLFRF) for Layton City’s Church Street Secondary Water Trunk Line.
- Approval of a Grant Application for SLFRF funds for wastewater screening and a sewer lift station at the Davis County Correctional Facility.
These grants aim to address critical infrastructure needs, showcasing the county’s proactive efforts to secure external funding for essential projects.
Other notable approvals included:
- Appropriation of funds to Antelope Island State Park from the 2024 Antelope by Moonlight Bike Ride.
- Sponsorship agreement with Intermountain Health for the 2024 Antelope by Moonlight event.
- Amendment to the contract with Western States Lodging Management for services at the Davis Conference Center.
- Agreements for fencing installation at the Health Department parking lot expansion project and LED upgrades at the Davis Conference Center.
In addition, the Board approved property tax abatements, various low-risk agreements for the Western Sports Park, and an improvement agreement and grant of lien with local residents for property development.
The meeting also included the approval of library services updates, including an amendment to the Flipster Digital Magazine service contract, and finalization of minutes from previous regular and work session meetings.
The Board of Canvassers and the Davis County Commission praised the collaboration and efficiency that enabled these approvals, emphasizing their importance in maintaining the county’s high standards of governance and community service.
