John Crofts Introduced as New Davis County Commissioner

In the first Davis County Commission meeting of 2025, John Crofts was introduced as the newest Commissioner, marking the beginning of his tenure. The meeting proceeded smoothly, with all agenda items receiving unanimous approval. Notably, there were no public comments during the session.

The meeting featured the presentation of Employee Service Awards, recognizing staff who have reached significant career milestones with Davis County.

Key Approvals:

  • Assessor’s Office: Approval was granted for a Clearfield Greenbelt Rollback Refund.
  • Community & Economic Development: An agreement with Open Doors was approved to provide hotel and motel vouchers for families experiencing homelessness during Code Blue nights.
  • Facilities: Contracts for door replacements at the Children’s Justice Center and a work order with Rocky Mountain Power for a new service at the Western Sports Park Restroom Building were approved.
  • Health Department: Multiple amendments to existing contracts with the Utah Department of Health & Human Services were approved, including updates to funding and program language for public health initiatives and disease intervention services.
  • Sheriff’s Office: Agreements were approved for a gas service line to the Emergency Operations Center, a public performance licensing contract for the correctional facility, and a touch-screen maintenance agreement for the Davis County Jail.
  • Board of Equalization: The Property Tax Register for January 7, 2025, was approved.

Additionally, the minutes from the December 10 and December 17, 2024, meetings were approved as part of the consent items.

Special recognition was given to outgoing Commission Randy Elliott’s years of service and his outstanding public service.
